Resazurin Viability Assay Kit

The Resazurin Fluorometric Cell Viability Assay Kit provides a quick, sensitive, and cost-efficient method for evaluating cell viability. This homogeneous assay requires no cell lysis or wash steps, making it easy to use. This formulation performs comparably to other well-known resazurin-based assays, such as those sold under the AlamarBlue® brand.

Cell proliferation leads to a more reduced environment, while lack of growth maintains oxidation. In this context, resazurin—a non-fluorescent, purple dye—is reduced by metabolically active cells to resorufin, a red fluorescent compound. This conversion can be monitored by fluorescence or absorbance measurements. The resulting signal correlates with the number of viable cells present.

Depending on the cell type, this assay can detect as few as 40 live cells with high sensitivity and reproducibility.
