The XTT Cell Viability Assay Kit offers a simple approach for measuring the number of viable cells using absorbance. This type of assay is commonly employed to evaluate cell proliferation and to screen for the cytotoxic effects of various compounds.
XTT is a tetrazolium-based compound, similar to MTT, and serves as an indicator of mitochondrial enzyme activity in living cells. These enzymes convert XTT into a colored product but become inactive shortly after cell death. Unlike MTT, which forms an insoluble formazan product requiring a solubilization step, XTT is directly reduced to a water-soluble orange formazan, streamlining the workflow. The intensity of the resulting color is directly proportional to the number of metabolically active cells in the sample.
XTT Cell Viability Assay Kit PN 927-21981 contains 5 x 10 mL of sterile 30007A: XTT Solution (sterile) and 5 x 50 µL of sterile Activation Reagent PMS, enough for 1000 reactions.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Store at 4 °C. Protect XTT solution from light. Kit components are stable for at least 6 months from date of receipt when stored as recommended.
