RedDot1 Far-Red Nuclear Stain is a far-red fluorescent dye designed for nuclear staining in live cells in cell health assays. The dye selectively labels nuclei in live cells and does not require a wash step after application. Compared to traditional nuclear stains like DAPI and Hoechst, RedDot1 offers improved photostability and shows less sensitivity to DNA sequence composition, making it effective regardless of base pair richness.
Note that RedDot1 is not fixable, and therefore is not suitable for imaging nuclei in fixed or permeabilized samples. For those applications, RedDot2 is recommended as an alternative nuclear counterstain.
Although not recommended for microscopy in fixed cells, RedDot1 can be used for cell number normalization in In-Cell Western™ Assays. When used with near-infrared imaging systems such as the Atlas™ Imaging System, Odyssey® M Imaging System, and Odyssey F Imaging Systems, it produces a consistent and proportional signal in the 700 nm channel relative to cell number.
RedDot1 Far-Red Nuclear Stain PN 927-21975 contains 250 µL of RedDot1 Far-Red Nuclear Stain, 200X in water.
